Standard Clean vs. Deep Clean: Which One Do You Actually Need?
Booking a house cleaning starts with one choice: standard or deep. Pick wrong and you either overpay or end up disappointed. Here's the real difference — and how to choose.
When you book a house cleaning, the first decision is usually "standard" or "deep." Choose wrong and you either overpay for detail you didn't need, or you're disappointed when the build-up you were hoping to tackle gets left behind. Here's the real difference and how to pick.
What a standard clean covers
A standard (or "up-keep") clean is maintenance cleaning — it keeps an already-decent space consistently presentable. On SanCrew it typically includes:
- Dust, wipe & tidy surfaces in bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms & kitchen
- Vacuum & steam-mop all hard floors
- Bathroom refresh — shower walls, sink, toilet & mirrors
- Kitchen touch-up — stovetop, counters, microwave & appliance exteriors
- Empty trash bins & a reasonable amount of dishes
It's built for a regular rhythm — weekly or bi-weekly — and usually takes 2–4 hours. It does not include deep scrubbing, the insides of appliances, or mold, hard-water, and grease removal. See the full scope on the Standard Up-Keep Cleaning page.
What a deep clean adds
A deep clean includes everything in a standard clean, then goes after the build-up routine cleaning misses:
- Scrub & wipe baseboards, interior windows & cabinet doors
- Clean the oven, dishwasher, fridge & range hood filters
- A more intensive bathroom and kitchen detail
It takes longer — often 4–6 hours — and costs more because of it. See the Detailed Deep Cleaning page.
Which should you book?
- Book a standard clean if your home is already maintained and you just want it kept fresh on a regular schedule.
- Book a deep clean if it's your first professional cleaning, it's been several months, you're prepping for guests or an event, or you're doing a seasonal reset.
- A common rhythm: start with one deep clean, then keep it up with standard cleans every 1–2 weeks.
- Moving? That's a different service — see our move-out cleaning guide.
- Heavily soiled or post-event? You may want a more intensive option — browse all services.
How pricing works on SanCrew
SanCrew doesn't set cleaning prices. Each independent cleaner sets their own rate based on the service, your home's size, and its condition — and you see that price before you book. To get a feel for typical SF ranges by service, see the house cleaning cost guide, then compare cleaners and book.
