Which one should you book?

Six packages sounds like a lot until you know what separates them. Almost every booking comes down to three things: whether anyone is living in the home, what you are cleaning off, and whether you want this once or on a rhythm.

  • Standard up-keep — the maintenance visit. Book it when the home is lived in and reasonably kept, and book it on a schedule if you want to stop thinking about it. This is what most recurring customers are on.
  • Detailed deep clean — the reset. Book it when a lived-in home has not had proper attention in a while and the problem is built-up grease and grime rather than everyday dust.
  • Extreme deep clean — the reset for homes well past that point, where the build-up has had years rather than months.
  • Move-out / move-in — for an empty home only. Emptiness is the requirement, not a preference: it is what lets the scope reach inside cabinets, ovens and closets.
  • Post-construction — after builders leave. The widest set of surfaces including walls and ceilings, but it removes dust rather than scrubbing grime.
  • Hourly — when the job does not fit a package, or you are genuinely unsure which to pick. You book time and direct it, rather than booking a defined scope.

FAQ

Choosing the right clean

Which cleaning service do I actually need?

Start with two questions: is anyone living there, and what are you cleaning off. If the home is occupied and reasonably kept, a standard up-keep clean is what you want — it is the maintenance visit most people book on a repeating schedule. If it is occupied but has not had proper attention in a while, and the problem is built-up grease and grime rather than everyday dust, that is a deep clean. If the home is empty because someone is moving in or out, book a move-out clean, which opens up scope a deep clean cannot reach. If builders have just left, that is post-construction, which is a dust job rather than a scrubbing job. And if you genuinely do not know, hourly is the honest answer — you book time rather than a defined scope.

What is the difference between a standard clean and a deep clean?

A standard up-keep clean is maintenance. It covers the surfaces you live on — floors, worktops, bathrooms, kitchen exteriors, dusting, making the bed — and it assumes the home is already in reasonable order, which is why it is the one people book weekly, bi-weekly or every four weeks. A deep clean goes after what maintenance leaves behind: built-up grease around the cooker, grime in bathroom joints, the parts of a home that daily tidying never touches. It takes longer and costs more per visit because it is genuinely more work. The practical rule is that a deep clean is a reset, not a rhythm. Many people book one deep clean to get a home to a good baseline, then keep it there with standard visits at whatever cadence suits them.

Do I need a move-out clean or a deep clean?

It comes down to whether the home is empty. A move-out clean requires it, and that is the whole point — with nothing in the way, the scope opens up to inside every cabinet, inside the oven and fridge, and closets down to bare shelves. None of that is possible around furniture and belongings, which is why a deep clean does not include it: a deep clean works around the things in your home. So if you are handing keys back or taking them on, book move-out and empty the place first. If you are staying put and just want the home properly reset, book deep. One honest caveat worth knowing: no clean guarantees a deposit back, whatever anyone tells you, because condition, paintwork and the state of the appliances all factor into that decision alongside cleanliness. A move-out clean gives you the best case you can make, not a promise.

How long does a cleaning take?

It scales with the home rather than the calendar. A standard up-keep clean runs roughly two to three and a half hours depending on size — about two hours for a studio, around three for a two-bed one-bath. A move-out clean runs longer, roughly two and a half to four and a half hours across the same range, because the scope is wider once the home is empty. Deep and extreme deep cleans take longer again, and each service page carries its own range. If you are booking hourly rather than a package, most cleaners ask for a two-hour minimum, and three hours is a realistic amount of time to get meaningful work done in a two-bedroom home. Every one of these is a guide, not a promise — the cleaner you book sets their own pace.

How much does each type of cleaning cost?

Every cleaner on SanCrew sets their own price, and it scales with the home: area blocks, bathrooms and kitchens. That means the honest answer is a range rather than a number, and the table on this page shows exactly that — live starting prices from the cleaners currently quoting San Francisco homes, broken out by home size and by depth of clean, so you can see what stepping up from standard to deep actually costs before you commit. Those are real individual rates, lowest to highest, never an average and never a figure SanCrew sets, suggests or caps. Recurring bookings price differently again: each cleaner sets their own weekly, bi-weekly and every-four-weeks rate, with their own discount for each cadence, so a standing arrangement is worth comparing against a one-off before you decide. Beyond the home: crews on SanCrew also offer mobile car detailing — four packages, priced by each detailer for your exact vehicle, at your driveway or garage.
